WATTS: Weights-Agility-Technical-Training-Supervision
Sessions run for 8 weeks

WHAT
To assist athletes by improving their strength, quickness and coordination; through supervised weight-training, core strengthening and plyometric workouts.

WHO
Any student athlete 12-18 years of age, who wishes to improve their performance in athletics such as Football, Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, Track, Swimming, Wrestling, etc. All athletes must be Rec Center members.

Note: All Athletes must be Rec Center members or signed up for the summer student membership.

WHEN
WATTS is an 8 week program held from early June through early August. One class session will be held Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 8:00-9:30 AM and another class session will be held 10:00-11:30 AM. Class size is limited to 12. Sign up for WATTS 2009 started April 6, 2009.

Class size is limited to 12 so be sure to sign up ASAP once registration opens. Sign-ups must be done at the Recreation Center Front Desk. Payment is due at time of sign-up.

What should I expect during the workouts?
Each session will last 1 ½ hours. The first 5 minutes will be a warm-up. Followed by 45-60 minutes of weight training. Followed by another 5 minute warm-up and 30 minutes of plyometric training. Each session will end with a cool-down and stretch segment.

How do I progress in my training?
The Rec Center's Fitness Instructors will progress every athlete on an individual basis, depending on their performance throughout the workouts.

What to expect during the first workout
Each athlete will under go a strength and flexibility evaluation. They will also be tested in the following areas: 40 yard dash, standing long jump, vertical leap, cone drills, and medicine ball toss. The participants will be re-tested at the end of the program.
